Community Excellence Awards

Public art enhances urban design and the general ambience of an area.  Some local jurisdictions have programs in place to encourage artists to contribute to public art.  The City of Gainesville and the Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs Department extends a call to local artists, citizens, and organizations for the annual Community Excellence Awards.

Individuals that have made significant and sustained contributions through public art may be presented with the Public Art Award by the Gainesville Art in Public Places Trust.  This trust serves as the public art advisory board to the City Commission.
